Rapist Gurmeet Ram Rahim Withdraws Bail Plea from High Court

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—In an unexpected move, the Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has withdrawn his bail plea from the Punjab & Haryana High Court. Notably, Gurmeet Ram Rahim had approached the High Court seeking bail a few days back.

It is learnt that Gurmeet Ram Rahim has withdrawn this plea following an advice of a lawyer, who apprised him that the customs and rituals of marriage mentioned in the petition does not go down at the weddings organized inside the Sirsa cult.

It has come to fore that the Haryana government has told the court that if the Sirsa cult chief is released on bail, then the law and order situation in Sirsa may worsen.

The CBI had also opposed the bail application of Sirsa cult chief by saying that he has been convicted in two cases and many other criminal cases were still under trial against him.

According to the bail plea, the wedding of Sirsa cult chief’s daughter Guransh Insan is scheduled to be held on May 10. It was told to the court that Gurmeet Ram Rahim is the only person who has to make the arrangements and perform customs of the marriage of the girl, because her parents had passed away. Gurmeet Ram Rahim had told the Court that he is caring for her since she was six years old and in all government records the girl’s father’s name is also Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

Guransh Insan is getting married to Patiala based Deepak Kumar. The engagement is on May 7 while the wedding is in Sirsa cult premises on May 10.
