Police Remand of IG Paramraj Umranangal Extended for Further Three Days

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Notorious IG Paramraj Umranangal, who was arrested by the Special Investigation Team in Behbal Klan and Kotkapura firing cases on February 19, was produced before the Faridkot Court today after four days of police remand. On the request of SIT, the Court extended his remand for further three days. Now, he will be presented before the Court on February 26.

Interestingly, IG Paramraj Umranangal was observed posing like a politician during his today’s Court appearance. There was no sign of regret on his face.

It is pertinent to note here that the Ex-DGP Punjab Sumedh Saini has been already asked to appear on February 25 by the Special Investigation Team. Following the statement of Captain Amarinder Singh on sacrilege cases, there are high speculations that Sumedh Saini might be arrested by the SIT on February 25.

Meanwhile, it has come to fore that Paramraj Umranangal had moved a petition in the Punjab & Haryana High Court to get stay on his arrest and his petition was scheduled to be taken up for hearing on February 27. But the Special Investigation Team headed by IG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh arrested him on February 19 by calling him for a meeting at Punjab Police’s headquarters in Chandigarh.
