Polygamous Jathedar Giani Iqbal Singh Accused of Domestic Violence by His Second Wife

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Bibi Baljit Kaur, the second wife of Takht Sri Patna Sahib’s Jathedar Giani Iqbal Singh, has approached the acting Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh seeking strict action against his husband Giani Iqbal Singh while accusing him of thrashing her. Notably, the Patna Sahib’s Jathedar has recently married one more woman.

In a written complaint sent through a delegation of five Sikh women on February 2, Bibi Baljit Kaur has revealed that Giani Iqbal Singh had married her in 2003 by telling her that his first wife had passed away. “But later I came to know that Giani Iqbal Singh cheated me,” she adds while disclosing that there is another woman’s name in Giani Iqbal Singh’s passport.

Meanwhile, Giani Harpreet Singh has said that this issue will be taken up in the upcoming meeting of Five Singh Sahibans.

Interacting with media, delegation members Bibi Soorbir Kaur and Bibi Mohinderjit Kaur informed that Bibi Baljit Kaur couldn’t appear before the Jathedar personally as she is suffering from pneumonia.

It is pertinent to note here that Giani Iqbal Singh is also controversial among Sikh community for openly attending the events organized by the RSS.
