High Court Acquits Bibi Jagir Kaur in Her Daughter’s Mysterious Murder Case

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The Punjab & Haryana High Court today acquitted the Ex-SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur in the death case of her daughter Harpreet Kaur. Notably, Bibi Jagir Kaur and three others namely, Dalwinder Kaur Dhesi, Paramjit Singh Raipur and Nishan Singh were held guilty of abducting and forcefully aborting her infanticide by the CBI court. The quartet was addressed five years imprisonment by the Patiala’s Special Court on March 30, 2012.

Later, Bibi Jagir Kaur had challenged the trial court’s order in Punjab & Haryana high court in November 2012. She had to resign as the cabinet minister after her conviction, could not contest last year’s assembly elections.

Pronouncing the order in an open court at about 10 am, Justice AB Chaudhari and Justice Kuldip Singh allowed her appeal and set aside the Patiala CBI special court order of awarding her five years imprisonment, along with a fine of Rs 5,000. “All appeals filed by the convicted accused are allowed. They are acquitted of all charges. The verdict of the trial court is set aside. Appeals filed by the CBI and complainant are dismissed,” the bench stated.
