sabad marahu phir jeevahu sad hee   taa phir mara na hoee.
If you die through the Word of the Guru, then you will live forever, you will not spiritually die again. -Guru Arjun Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 604

Message: This is a truism – an advice – that if you succeed in reining in your egoism and desires, and instead completely follow the teachings of the Guru, you are unlikely to indulge in wrongdoings. When we indulge in wrongdoings, it gradually becomes a habit. Wrongdoings and wrong habits have a corrosive effect on our spirituality and ethical morality.

One way to fool-proof ourselves against this corrosive effect on our morality is to follow the teachings of the Guru (for Sikhs- Guru Granth Sahib) which will shield us against temptations and over-attachment to worldly matters, or what is often referred to as ‘duality’ and ensure that we lead a spiritually fulfilling life.

Etymology: Combination of jeevahu (live) + sad hee (forever).
