Political Sikh Prisoner Bhai Shamsher Singh Released on Parole for 42 Days

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Political Sikh prisoner Bhai Shamsher Singh, who is serving life sentence in the Burail Jail of Chandigarh in assassination case of the then infamous Punjab CM Beant “Singh”, was today released on parole for 42 days. He has been languishing in jail for the last 23 years but the Indian government is still not releasing him despite completing minimum mandatory terms of life imprisonment.

It may be recalled here that political Sikh prisoners Bhai Shamsher Singh and Bhai Lakhwinder Singh were first time released on parole from the Burail jail on December 27, 2013 under pressure of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa’s hunger strike.
