AAP Suspends Sukhpal Khaira and Kanwar Sandhu

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—The core  unit of Aam Admi Party’s Punjab unit today suspended its two rebel MLAs Sukhpal Singh Khaira and Kanwar Sandhu who heads the assembly segments of Bholath and Kharar respectively. The duo legislators have been suspended for consistently indulging in anti-party activities.

Harpal Singh Cheema, who is the AAP’s new leader of Opposition in Punjab assembly, told the media that Sukhpal Singh Khaira and Kanwar Sandhu have been suspended for continuously attacking the central and state party leadership.

It is noteworthy here that the duo legislators have been suspended nearly three months after removal of Sukhpal Khaira from leading opposition in the assembly and two days after AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s visit to Chandigarh.

Reacting to his suspension, Khaira termed the decision as dictatorial and said he will hold a meeting with his supporter legislators and party activists to decide his next action. “We will go to the court of people. Unity talks were torpedoed under a conspiracy after announcing five candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections. It seems like it is a planned strategy and conspiracy,” Khaira said.
