Gurbani Word Of The Day: sagal Padaarath

ਸਗਲ ਪਦਾਰਥ (sagal padaarath)

Meaning: noun: All the treasures or blessings.

Quote:
sagal padaarath tis mile   jin gur ithaa jaai.
All treasures are obtained by one who goes to see the Guru, has his darshan (and receives his teachings). -Guru Arjun Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 49

Message: All treasures can be achieved by joining the congregation of the Guru – where we find an opportunity of learning divine teachings and putting them into practice. This helps in making our life better each day by incorporating the lessons learnt into our life.

Attending the Guru’s congregation and listening to messages of Gurbani might look to be a simple application, but it has a subtle and very profound impact on life. It keeps us embedded in the Guru’s wisdom and provides an incredible source of lifelong learning and spiritual enrichment – akin to the attainment of all treasures of the world.

All the rewards which one desires in the mind are obtained from the Satguru. -Guru Arjun Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 52

Etymology: Combination of sagal (all) + padaarath (treasures or blessings) from Sanskrit padaarth [literally, pad (words) + arth (meaning), the meaning of words]; object, category, substance, etc.
