As the husband is dear to a young woman, so is the Divine dear to my mind. -Bhagat Namdev, Guru Granth Sahib, 693

Message: The young dame is full of love and passion for the husband who provides her protection, dignity and honour; physical and mental satisfaction; a fulfilling, child-bearing life; company and comfort to the soul.

The soul, however, also has a natural love and yearning for the Divine. It tries to please the Divine to reach its own spiritual fulfillment by connecting to its source. Bhagat Namdev assures us that it is possible to achieve divine enlightenment if we make a sincere and conscious effort.

Etymology: From Sanskrit taruṇee (young woman) → Pali → → Gujarati taruṇee, Old Awadhi and Hindi tarunee.
