Punish Perpetrators of 1984-Sikh Genocide, SGPC asks António Guterres

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal today raked up the prominent Sikh issues before the United Nations by submitting a memorandum to its secretary general Mr. António Guterres during his visit to Sri Harmandir Sahib.

Seeking debate on the opening of corridor to Gurdwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib in the general assembly of the United Nations, Longowal told António Guterres that the relations between India and Pakistan could improve if the duo governments will make sincere efforts to build this corridor. He asked Mr. António Guterres to direct India and Pakistan to make sincere efforts in this concern.

Raking up the issue of injustice to the victims of 1984-Sikh genocide, Longowal told António Guterres that the perpetrators of Sikh genocide were at large even after 34 years of this inhuman carnage. He appealed the UN secretary general to intervene in the matter to ensure strict punishment for the genocide perpetrators.

Beside it, Longowal also apprised Mr. António Guterres about the rising racial attacks on Sikhs in foreign countries and discrimination due to wearing the symbols of Sikh faith.

Mr. António Guterres promised the SGPC president to sort out these issues after necessary deliberation with the concerned authorities.
