Idols of Hindu Deities Installed in Illegally Constructed Model of Sri Harmandir Sahib

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—As per information availed by a reliable sources, a Mumbai based builder has committed sacrilege of the holiest Sikh shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib by illegally constructing its model and installing idols of Hindu deities in it. Sikh24 has learnt that the incident has occurred in the Ulaas Nagar area of Mumbai (Maharashtra) where common masses are seen taking photographs along with shoes.

Taking strong notice of it, the SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal has announced to send a team to Mumbai for thoroughly investigating the matter. He has said that the Sikh community will never tolerate such an attack on Sikhism and strict action will be taken against the guilty culprits. “I will write a letter to the Maharashtra government besides appealing the local Sikh bodies of Mumbai to stage protest against this intolerable attack on Sikhism” Longowal said.

Meanwhile, the SGPC appointed Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh has also directed the SGPC to take legal action against the builder responsible for committing such an unforgivable offense.

  1. Harish Sharma….Sikhism is a monotheistic religion. Yes, idols were placed inside Harmandir Sahib because till early 60s the Gurdwara was forcefully taken over by Mahants…..but later Sikhs fought legally and took the shrine back and removed idols.
