Sacrilege Cases: Punjab Government to Constitute SIT After Taking Back Probe from CBI

CHANDIGARH—On August 28, the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh had announced to appoint a Special Investigation Team to probe sacrilege cases by taking back the probe from CBI but no development in this concern has come to fore even after a week of this announcement. Sources have informed that the Punjab government has decided to constitute Special Investigation Team after taking back the cases from CBI as the SIT won’t become functional until these cases are not taken back from the CBI.

Sikh24 has learnt that the Advocate General has made it clear to the Congress led Punjab government that it can take back the sacrilege cases as neither the CBI has begun probe nor has registered an FIR in this concern.

It is noteworthy here that the Punjab government has entangled in a very tough situation as on one side it is facing opposition of SAD leaders for announcing to take back the sacrilege cases from CBI and on the other hand the AAP leaders as well as the AAP rebel leaders are forcing the Punjab government to arrest Badals and Sumedh Saini at the earliest.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed worry to the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh about rising mass support to the struggle for Sikh sovereignty. After the meeting, Captain Amarinder Singh has today said in a statement that anyone trying to disturb the peace of Punjab will be curbed strictly.

Captain’s statement is being considered as an indication for the pro-Khalistan Panthik bodies demanding justice in sacrilege cases.
