Portrait of Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains Installed in Central Sikh Museum

CHANDIGARH—A portrait of renowned Sikh intellectual Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains was installed in the Central Sikh Museum of Sri Harmandir Sahib on August 24. The portrait was jointly unveiled by the SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh, Head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh and SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal following the recitation of melodious Kirtan by Hazoori Raagi Jatha of Bhai Jaspinder Singh and Ardas by Bhai Sultan Singh.

Highly hailing the SGPC’s initiative, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh said that Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains had made incomparable contributions for the preachment of Sikhism and his contributions will always be remembered by the Sikh masses.

Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh and Baba Sewa Singh Khadoor Sahib Wale also shed light on the life of Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains on this occasion.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, the SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal said that Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains had prepared five multimedia Sikh museums besides the Sikh encyclopedia. He added that Dr. Bains was aspirant of installing a multimedia Sikh museum in Sri Harmandir Sahib also due to which the SGPC has decided to include a multimedia Sikh museum in the central Sikh museum. “The SGPC will also build a religious library in village Manak Dheri of Hoshiarpur i.e. the native village of Dr. Bains” he added.

SGPC’s Chief Secretary Dr. Roop Singh said that Dr. Bains was aspirant of doing something different for the Sikh community due to which he prepared a Sikh encyclopedia and five multimedia Sikh museums using modern technology. He added that Dr. Bains had made a special contribution for the 500th birthday celebrations of Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji and in the campaign against Drug abuse.

Bhai Harjot Singh, son of Dr. Raghbir Singh Bains, and other family members were honored with Siropao (robe of honor) by the SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal and others on this occasion.
