Langah Acquitted in Rape Case

GURDASPUR—The former Akali minister Sucha “Singh” Langah, who was facing rape charges, has been acquitted by the Court of Additional District and Session Judge Prem Kumar. Notably, Langah was indicted under rape charges on September 28 last year when a woman employee of the Vigilance Department had filed a complaint with the then SSP Harcharan Singh Bhullar claiming that she was repeatedly raped by the Akali leader. To strengthen her claims, she had also handed over a video clip to the SSP.

Langah was present in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Prem Kumar, when the verdict was pronounced. He was mobbed by scores of his supporters when he came out around 5 pm.

On February 28 this year, the victim woman had withdrawn the rape accusations against him. Reverting from her previous statement, she had told the court that she was pressurized to make accusations against Langah by the Police cops who were working in collusion with some politicians.

Langah’s sex tape had sledgehammered the election campaign of SAD-BJP for the by-poll held on Gurdaspur parliamentary seat in October last year.

Later, Langah was excommunicated by the Sarbat Khalsa as well as SGPC appointed Takht Jathedars on October 4 and October 5 last year respectively.
