1984 Holocaust: Damdami Taksal Releases List of 890 Martyrs

AMRITSAR SAHIB—The Sikh seminary Damdami Taksal has released a list of 890 martyrs who had attained martyrdom while battling against the Indian army during June-1984’s holocaust. Notably, portraits of all these martyrs will be installed in the under construction Martyrs’ Gallery in the basement of memorial of 1984 holocaust.

Releasing the list on July 4, the Damdami Taksal chief Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma said that the list of 890 martyrs also include names 50 women martyrs. He added that the list has been prepared from data made available by the Sikh bodies like SGPC, Dal Khalsa and other foreign based Sikh bodies. “471 martyrs out of the total 890 were from Amritsar & Tarn Taran districts while 323 were from other districts & states” he informed.

Baba Harnam Singh Dhumma has appealed the families of those martyrs, whose names couldn’t be published by Damdami Taksal, to send details along with a photo of martyr to the Damdami Taksal.
