SGPC Appeals for Panthik Unity

AMRITSAR SAHIB—The SGPC president S. Gobind Singh Longowal has appealed the Sikh bodies, Sikh seminaries and Sikh preachers to unite under the patronage of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and work for the high spirit of Sikhism. He has said that the Panthik unity was extremely needed as we are going to celebrate 550th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji next year.

Longowal has said that anti-Sikhism powers are continuously active to divide Sikh community and we need to be careful as our strength lies in our unity. “Internecine war will ultimately benefit our rival powers” he added.

Longowal has also advised the Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh to remain constrained within his jurisdiction and refrain from interfering in internal affairs of Sikhs. He alleged that Captain is trying to draw a vertical division among Sikh preachers and Sikh seminaries.

Nullifying the Captain’s statement against Sikh seminary Damdami Taksal, Longowal has said that the Damdami Taksal has been playing a vital role in preaching Sikhism.

Appealing the Sikh preachers to refrain from preaching controversial issues, Longowal has advised them to focus their religious discourse only on Gurbani verses. “SGPC will make special efforts to unite all the Sikh bodies, Sikh seminaries and Sikh preachers under the patronage of Sri Akal Takht Sahib” he added.
