Religious procession taken out in Amritsar Sahib for Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 397th Parkash Purab

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—In commemoration of 397th birthday of ninth Sikh master Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Ji, a religious procession was taken out in the holy city Sri Harmandir Sahib by the SGPC with the support of local Sikh bodies. Commencing from Sri Akal Takht Sahib under the patronage of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and leadership of Punj Piare (five beloved one of Guru Sahib), the religious procession concluded at Gurdwara Guru Ke Mehal while traversing through several prominent locations of the holy city.

Head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh performed the sewa of chaur for the corpus of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji placed in the gold plated palanquin.

Various Gatka parties, Band parties, School students, activists of various Sikh bodies, the SGPC staff and common Sikh masses enthusiastically participated in this procession while enchanting the name of almighty lord and Gurbani verses.  

Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji had sacrificed his life while challenging Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s cruel approach towards other religions in November, 1675.
