Mumbai Based Sikh Presents Gold Artifact Worth Rs. 4M at Harmandir Sahib

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Earlier this morning, October 13, a Mumbai based Sikh devotee named Bibi Surjit Kaur presented a specially made Gold necklace of 1,212 grams at holiest Sikh shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib. The necklace is worth Rupees 4.1 million of Indian currency and more than 63,000 US dollars. Notably, Bibi Surjit Kaur keeps on expressing her devotion towards sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib by presenting various precious metallic articles. 

Interacting with media on this occasion, Bibi Surjit Kaur said that the entire humanity takes blessings from this sacred shrine so it becomes our duty to dedicate our body, mind and wealth here. She added that her family has received immense blessings from sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib.

SGPC Secretary Dr. Roop Singh informed that Bibi Surjit Kaur had earlier also presented many gold articles including dome like tasseled ornaments and frills of gold, Silver made board for writing daily Hukamnama (order of the Almighty Lord). He added that the service of inscribing “ਧੰਨ ਧੰਨ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਗੁਰ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਰਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸਵਾਰਿਆ, ਡਿਠੇ ਸਭੇ ਥਾਵ ਨਹੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਸੇਵਿਆ” in gold made words was also carried out by Bibi Surjit Kaur.

Bibi Surjit Kaur was honoured Siropao (robe of honour) by SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh and Sri Harmandir Sahib’s Head Granthi Giani Jagtar Singh on this occasion.

  1. one holding the position of Jathedaar should know this is improper use of Siropao. I agree with ‘random joeginder’ – the money could have been put to better use; i.e. promoting education, technical training for jobs and helping the less fortunate.

  2. Amazing to see bibi ji’s gratitude and generosity.
    Maybe this gold necklace donation’s value could’ve been used differently? Who am I to say, though.
