Guru Ram Das Ji’s Parkash Purab celebrated in Pakistan

LAHORE, Pakistan—Following the basic Nanakshahi calendar, the 483rd birth anniversary of Sri Guru Ram Das Ji was celebrated by the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhik Committee on October 9 at Gurdwara Prakash Asthan of Chuna Mandi in Lahore (Pakistan).

Speaking with Sikh24, S. Harmeet Singh of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Sewak Jatha and Babar Jalandhari of Lahore informed that Kirtan was sung during the whole night and Sri Akhand Path Sahib was culminated in the wee hours. 

They added that Bhai Anil Kumar from Karachi, Bhai Manmohan Singh from Sri Panja Sahib, Bibi Manbir Kaur from Sri Nankana Sahib, Bhai Gurcharan Singh and Bhai Jarnail Singh from Peshawar performed the Gurbani Kirtan in melodious tones.

Baba Jagtar Singh Kar Sewa Wale, PSGPC President S. Tara Singh, Former PSGPC President S. Bishan Singh and Secretary (Shrines) of Evacuee Trust Property Board Mr. Faraz Abbas were present on this occasion.

Every year, Sikhs in Pakistan celebrate Guru Ram Das Ji’s Parkash Purab with great fervor.  Sikhs arrive here from different parts of the country, including West Punjab and other parts of the World.  This year, various Sikh Jathas had sought visa, however, due to legal matters, only a few could make it to the celebrations.
