SGPC To Launch Outreach Program for Sirsa Cult Followers; Former Punj Piare Welcome Verdict

AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Shortly after Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s sentencing by the court, the SGPC President Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has announced an outreach program for Sirsa cult disciples. Notably, the SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh on August 29 had also appealed the Sirsa cult disciples to shun ties with the cult and adopt Sikh faith.

In a press note shared with Sikh24, Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar has said that the SGPC will intensify the drive in the coming days to ensure Sirsa cult disciples return to their foots. He has further said that the common Sikhs, who were misled by the Sirsa cult chief by befooling them, should now come back as their cult chief has been stamped as a rapist by the CBI court.

“Reality of self-styled prophet Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been exposed and the Sirsa cult disciples need to shun the cult chief’s worship at the earliest,” the press note reads.

“The great Sikh Gurus have shown a unique path to worship the Almighty Lord.  This is the beauty of the Sikh religion that we no longer need a human-living Guru.”

Taking on the Haryana government for failing to control the violence by Sirsa cult disciples, Prof. Badungar said that the aftermath would have been controlled if the Haryana government would have remained cautious.

Meanwhile, the sacked Punj Piare of Sri Akal Takht Sahib have warmly welcomed the CBI Court’s verdict of sentencing Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim for 20 years in a rape case of two female disciples.

Speaking with Sikh24 earlier today, Bhai Satnam Singh Khanda said that the CBI court has presented an exemplary verdict to punish the Sirsa cult head.  “However, our SGPC appointed Takht heads had undermined the sanctity of supreme Sikh throne Sri Akal Takht Sahib by pronouncing the politically influenced decisions,” Bhai Satnam Singh told Sikh24.

Bhai Khanda said that it was due to actions of the SGPC appointed Takht Jathedars that the Punj Piare Singhs had to take an action.  Notably, these Singhs were dismissed from their service by the SGPC for out-stepping their jurisdiction by summoning the SGPC appointed Takht heads for granting an unasked pardon to the Sirsa cult chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim.

“Though we were dismissed from services, but we have continued Sikhi parchar by conducting Amrit Sanchar ceremonies. Till date the Jatha has baptized atleast 5,000 Sikhs,” he added.

Bhai Satnam Singh Khanda said it was important to promote Sikhi to former cult desciples instead of inviting them to partake amrit.
