Quote:

kabeer aakhee kere maaṭuke   pal pal gaee bihaa-i.

O Kabir! In the blink of an eye – moment by moment, life passes away. – Bhagat Kabir, Guru Granth Sahib, 1376

Message: Blinking for mere instants…

As Time flies, simultaneously, our human life span on this earth is also shortened

A blink of an eye or a moment is too short a span to be measured or counted.

It is worth noting that blinks of the eye become seconds, seconds become minutes, minutes add up to become hours and hours turn into days, and so on. Thus months and years pass by.

The mind remains attached to worldly entanglements and builds up bad habits. It doesn’t give up its greed until death walks in and knocks at the door of life.

Every moment, every instant, and every day our life is so precious. Let us strive to live it fully and fruitfully.

The verse above wakes us up and encourages us to take positive control of the role we can play before night (meaning, the end of life) closes in on us. Time to act is now.

The best portion of a good man’s life is his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and of love. -William Wordsworth, poet 1770-1850

Etymology: From Sanskrit pal (a measure of time or weight) → Pali/ Prakrit → Punjabi pal (a second of time).
