CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Trailer of the movie ‘The Black Prince’ in Punjabi version was released on YouTube by the production company ‘Saga Music’ on June 7. The Black Prince (2017) is a story of Queen Victoria and the Last King of Punjab, Maharajah Duleep Singh.
Character of Duleep Singh is torn between two cultures and faces constant dilemmas as a result. His relationship with Queen Victoria will be the most impactful relationship in the film, the Queen representing the English culture he was drawn into. The Black Prince begins a lifelong struggle to regain the lost Punjab Kingdom. It takes Duleep Singh on an extraordinary journey across the world.
Releasing on the 21st of July this year, the film ought to be a groundbreaking depiction of Sikh history in it’s tragic yet dramatic reality. Although historical accuracy versus creative liberty will always be a contentious sticking point, the film should still attract a huge Punjabi audience worldwide.
