The Divine is our helper and support where none else exists (to help us). He washes our millions of wrongdoings in an instant. -Guru Arjan Sahib, Guru Granth Sahib, 1337

Message: Everlasting Companion

Besides enjoying the comforts that the Creator has bestowed upon us, why not sincerely seek His divine companionship and support?

From birth to death we enjoy so many gifts and bounties of nature.

We need to gratefully remember that the Creator has blessed us with sustenance, good health, family and friends. He can be our best friend and guide. He will stand by us when there is nobody else.

Let us seek His divine guidance and acquire the virtue of contentment. Let us pause and resolve not to crave and chase after more and more material possessions.

Let us thus empower ourselves and free our minds from the trap of transgressions and wrongdoings.

Etymology: From Sanskrit and Pali sakhaa (friend).

Summary of the Week:
We are all children of the same Divine who is both father and mother to us.

Even adults make mistakes all the time. But it is always timely to remember that the Creator is within us and is never far away.

If we do not listen to the wisdom of Gurbani we will come to grief. However, if we sincerely “go down on our knees” and ask for the right guidance, the Divine will open a path to peace and contentment for us.

Let the guiding image of a mother, father and friend be our guiding light in our daily lives. A mother and father willingly forgive their offspring.

We can take this lesson further, and learn to recognise our shared humanity. Once we fully recognise our shared humanity, that we are one family, we will learn to forgive the perceived wrongs done by our fellow human beings. There will be reconciliations and not accusations just seeking to blame and find fault.

Nature’s laws affirm instead of prohibit. If you violate her laws, you are your own prosecuting attorney, judge, jury, and hangman. -Luther Burbank, an American botanist and horticulturist, 1849-1926
