CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Karan Sandhu, son of Journalist turned Aam Aadmi Party leader Kanwar Sandhu, passed away on March 1 due to cardiac arrest at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) at Chandigarh. Resident of Canada, Karan Sandhu was 36 years old and was on medication in PGI from December. His flight to Canada was scheduled for March 18 but unfortunately he couldn’t return back to his country of residence. He is survived by his wife.
Extending condolences to Kanwar Sandhu, Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Badal termed it as a shocking and unspeakable grief. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal also condoled Kanwar Sandhu.
Head of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Captain Amarinder Singh has also tendered his condolences to Kanwar Sandhu.
It is learnt that the dead body of Karan Sandhu was cremated on same day. Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP’s national convener Arvind Kejriwal, AAP’s state incharge Sanjay Singh, AAP’s senior leader Durgesh Pathak reached Chandigarh on March 1 to take part in Karan Sandhu’s cremation.
Chief Minister of Haryana Sri Manohar Lal Khattar has also extended his condolences to the bereaved Journalist turned AAP leader Kanwar Sandhu.
This is very sad, and he was way too young. This is very unfortunate and I hope the family finds the strength and courage during this very difficult time, it will take time and they will of course never forget their son.
Punjabis need to do more research on the health of our community and why so many people pass away from cardiac arrest including young people. If Sikhs had their own country and own institutions we would’ve have been much more advanced as a society but unfortunately living under the oppressive Indian regime that has deeply divided the people and does nothing to get rid of corruption, then our community will never succeed collectively, yes punjabis can leave India and live in Canada or the USA and create their own little successful ethnic enclave communities abroad but Punjab would continue to crumble and the health care system there needs major major improvements, having an advanced health care system of course saves lives but that is something India is lacking even though every other person or family is eager for their child to become a doctor but what does being a doctor really mean when you actually don’t care about saving lives but just care more about the title doctor and the respect people perceive they’ll get when they become doctors, become doctors because your passionate about science and healthcare not because your egotistic and hungry for a high paying job
