:dateline:On the first day of Georgian year of 2017, the central Sikh shrine Sri Harmandir Sahib witnessed devotees congregating in huge droves�to pay obeisance. The number of devotees this year is being considered to be�a new high�compated to previous years.
Devotees were moved towards Sri Darbar Sahib with bare feet during the cold and�started reaching the sanctum sanctorum Sri Harmandir Sahib during the night of December 31 to bathe�in the sacred Sarovar (pool).
Speaking with�Sikh24, the manager of Sri Darbar Sahib said that the number of devotees appeared to be�more than that of Diwali or Vaisakhi.
Its shame that no one remembers the new year in the Sikh Calendar and yet new year 1st January all turn up!
