1984 Sikh Genocide: CBI Questions Jagdish Tytler

jagdish-tytlerNEW DELHI, India—Interacting with media in New Delhi, Official Spokesperson of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Devpreet Singh confirmed that the senior Congress leader and key suspect of the 1984 Sikh genocide, Jagdish Tytler, was reportedly quized by the Central Bureau of Investigation on November 22 for four hours. This relates to the cases of the slaying of three Sikhs at a Gurdwara Sahib in the Pulbangash area in North Delhi. Interacting with media in New Delhi, Official Spokesperson of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Devpreet Singh confirmed

The investigations agency was asked by the courts last month to submit final report of the investigation within a period of four months.

The CBI has already submitted a closure report regarding the case three times and had even given a clean chit to Jagdish Tytler. Later, an arms dealer Abhishek Verma had deposed before the Court that Tytler had bribed the prime witness of the case by transferring a huge ransom on the name of Narinder Singh (son of Chief witness) to Canada via Hawala. The Court had ordered the CBI on December 4, 2015 to re-probe the case.

On being reprimanded by the court for the delay in contacting the Canadian government, the Investigation agency had claimed before the Court in it’s last hearing that one of its officials talked to Narinder Singh (son of the chief witness who is living in Canada) over the phone, but he refused to help the investigation of the case. Notably, the CBI had earlier told the Court that it was unable to contact Narinder Singh in Canada but the prosecution lawyer Harvinder Singh Phoolka had advised the Court that he can provide contact details of Narinder Singh.
