Hundreds Attend Funeral of Sant Bhindranwale’s Close Aide at Damdami Taksal HQ

SRI AMRITSAR, Punjab—Dead body of Bhai Joginder Singh Rode, who passed away yesterday at Samastpur, was today cremated at Damdami Taksal’s headquarter at Chowk Mehta. Notably, Bhai Joginder Singh Rode was a close aide of Great Sikh of 20th century Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale and was an eye-witness of his martyrdom on June 6, 1984.

Bhai Joginder Singh Rode dedicated a major portion of his life towards the Sikh sovereignty struggle.  He was a student of the Damdami Taksal and performed a lot of seva with Taksal.  Bhai Sahib had no family as he never married.

Dead body of Bhai Rode was today brought to Damdami Taksal’s headquarter Gurdwara Gurdarshan Prakash in Chowk Mehta where an Ardas was performed before cremation. Later, Bhai Jasbir Singh Rode (nephew of Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale) and Bhai Isher Singh (elder son of Sant Baba Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale) consigned his dead body to flames.

Besides the historical Manawala Kand, he was an eye witness to many significant and historical incidents of pre and post 1984 episodes of the Sikh struggle. 

He also witnessed Sant Jarnail Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale attaining martyrdom on June 6, 1984 in front of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.  He was one of the few persons who spoke with Sant Ji during the last few moments of his life.
