AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Slamming the Indian government for banning upcoming movie ‘Dharam Yudh Morcha’, the interim Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Bhai Dhian Singh Mand has said that the Government was adamant on its stance to suppress voice of Sikhs. He called upon Sikhs to support the upcoming movie, which was originally scheduled to be released worldwide on September 16.
Speaking Sikh24 earlier today, September 1, Jathedar Mand appreciated the work done by ‘Dharam Yudh Morcha’ team. He said that such efforts were greatly needed to eradicate the bias related to the recent events in SIkh history. However, he urged the producers to emphasize on maintaining Sikhi standards while producing such sensitive movies.
Dharam Yudh Morcha movie by Raj Kakra is directed by Naresh S Garg and story of the movie is written Prince Karamjit Singh Batth. The movie covers the era from 1947 to 1984, including the events from the Punjabi Suba Movement, River water dispute, Anandpur Sahib Resolution, 13 April 1978 Nirankari kand, Dharam Yudh Morcha, life of Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindrawale and the 1984 attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib.
The storyline is based on events collected from over 200 eye-witnesses and official documents.
This will be Raj Kakra’s second movie on Sikh freedom movement. His first movie, “Kaum De Heere” was based on the events that led to the assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi after she launched attacked on Sri Harmandir Sahib in 1984.
