Bhagwant Mann: We Are Answerable to Sikh Sangat, not Badal Appointed Jathedars

CHANDIGARH—Reacting to a recent warning issued by the Badal / SGPC appointed Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh to AAP leaders, Member Parliament from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann has said that Jathedar’s untimed statement has proved that he was a political tool of the Shiromani Akali Dal.  On July 13, Giani Gurbachan Singh had warned the AAP leaders to refrain from meddling in religious issues of the Sikhs.  Giani Gurbachan Singh had termed the “Youth Manifesto” released by the AAP as a “bundle of lies”.

Commenting over the manifesto row that embroiled the AAP in Punjab, on June 16 Bhagwant Mann said that his party had sought an apology from Sikh masses. “We are not going to Badal or Akalis at any cost,” he added.

Appealing the Punjab masses to participate in programme “Talk to Arvind Kejriwal” scheduled for 11 am on July 17, Bhagwant Mann claimed that the programme would rather seek suggestions from common masses instead of imposing one’s ideology on others. He appealed the Punjab people to take lead in joining the programme “Talk to Arvind Kejriwal”.

Slamming the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee’s head Captain Amarinder Singh for blaming him of being an alcoholic, Bhagwant Mann said that how could Captain claim that he observed me drunk in the Parliament as the latter has had zero attendance in the last three sessions.
