DSGMC And SGPC To File A Lawsuit Against The Production team Of The Movie ‘Dishoom’

ANANDPUR SAHIB—Addressing a press conference at Sri Anandpur Sahib on June 15, the General Secretary of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa, informed us that the DSGMC was going to file a lawsuit against the Producer, David Dhawan, Director, Satish Dhawan and actress, Jacqueline Fernandez, for the movie ‘Dishoom’.  Sirsa alleged that the movie hurting Sikh sentiments.

Sirsa informed Sikh24 that the production team was contacted by the DSGMC asking them to remove the scene that is disrespecting the Sikh kakaar ‘Sri Sahib’.  “Watching no appreciable response, DSGMC has decided to lodge a case against them under section 295-A,” Sirsa told Sikh24.

Similarly, SGPC President, Avtar Singh Makkar, also appealed to the Censor Board to cut the controversial scene disrespecting the ‘Sri Sahib’ from the movie. He also demanded that the trailer of the movie that was uploaded on ‘YouTube’ should be deleted by the authorities immediately.

In a song in the movie ‘Dishoom’, actress Jacqueline Fernandez is depicted as dancing with a ‘Sri Sahib’ tied on her waist. The ‘Sri Sahib’ is one of the most sacred ‘Kakaars’ for the Sikhs that was blessed by the tenth Sikh master, Guru Gobind Singh Ji. “Disrespect shown to the ‘Sri Sahib’ by the production team of the movie ‘Dishoom’ is hurting religious sentiments of Sikhs worldwide,” Makkar stated in a press statement issued June 16

  1. A Sikh should be a member of the Censor Board or The producers of the controversial movies should clear their episodes with the SGPC, that depicts Sikhs or Sikh artifacts that has sensibilities issues of the community. Every time this goes on as if movie makers are foreigners.
