In the letter, Makkar wrote that the religious procession will reach the outskirts of Delhi on May 28. It will start from the village of Gurdas Nangal (Gurdaspur) on May 21.

Similar letters have also been written to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Parkash Badal, and Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, to provide the necessary administrative arrangements for the religious procession.

In a separate letter written to the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Makkar has asked the President, S. Manjit Singh GK, to make convenient accommodation arrangements for the pilgrims of the religious procession.

The religious procession will traverse through the same route that Mughals had gone through while bringing Baba Banda Singh Bahadur to Mehrauli where he was martyred after immense torture. The procession will be headed by five beloved ones of Guru Sahib under patronage of Sri Guru Granth Sahib placed in a flower decked vehicle.

It is estimated that over 100,000 Sikh pilgrims will take part in the procession.  SGPC president Avtar Makkar told Sikh24 that he has contacted several Government officials for their assistance as the Nagar Kirtan would require special arrangements.  “Several roads will need to be blocked for the nagar kirtan, so he are hoping for everyone cooperation,” Makkar told Sikh24.
