BREAKING: Bail Granted To Dr. Gurjinder Singh President Of SYFB (Amritsar)

TARN TARAN, Punjab—According to reports from internal sources, President of Sikh Youth Federation Bhindranwala (Amritsar), Dr. Gurjinder Singh was granted bail in the sedition cases stemming from Sarbat Khalsa 2015. Dr Gurjinder Singh was arrested along with a number of other Sarbat Khalsa organizers. Many officials have commented on the charges being trumped up and politically motivated by the Punjab and Indian Government being against Sikh organizations and the Panth on the whole becoming unified via the gathering.

Sources have revealed that Dr. Gurjinder Singh was granted bail by the High Court in February however he was still being remanded in jail due to pending trials of others cases registered against him. He was booked under sections 283, 341, 427, 431, 379 of Indian Penal Code for obstructing the National Highway and damaging the public property while protesting during the unrest across Punjab following the desecration incidents in last October.

Separate to this, his name was also enlisted in the complaint lodged by the manager of Darbar Sahib for allegedly creating a disturbance in the Harmandir Sahib complex on Bandi Chhor Diwas, the day after the Sarbat Khalsa. The newly appointed Panthik Jathedars were addressing media and sangat on the whole at the Akal Takht, as would be expected when a new Jathedar is selected.

It is noteworthy here that the family of Dr. Gurjinder Singh have been facing extreme levels of torture by the Punjab Police following the Sarbat Khalsa gathering. His mother and wife along with a young child were kept detained in the City Police Station of Tarn Taran for no specified reason. His step-father and one other relative were also arrested by the Police to learn the whereabouts of Dr. Gurjinder Singh. The family of Dr. Gurjinder Singh had to leave home to get protect themselves from police torture.
