Dr. Rai and other leading figures of the UK had acted as intermediariesbetween Sikh bodies and the Indian government, in facilitating atalk between two parties on the issue of political Sikh prisoner, during Modis visit to London.
Dr. Rai has said that as a follow-up to the discussion held in London, he contacted the National Security Advisor of India Sri Ajit Doval to inquireonthe progress on the issue. He announcedthat Doval has said that the issue was under process and hopefully 42 political Sikh prisoners would be released within a short periodof time.
He addedthat the Indian government has also stepped up the processing to abolish the current ‘black list’ of Sikhs residing abroad. All the embassies of India across the world have been instructed by Sri Doval to take down the black lists of Sikhs very soon, he added.
