Giani Gurmukh Singh Offers To Resign as SGPC’s Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib

Giani Gurmukh Singh (2)TALWANDI SABO, Punjab—Giani Gurmukh Singh who is working as SGPC’s acting Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo), on Saturday offered to resign from the post.

Interacting with media persons on the sidelines of Parkash Gurpurb celebrations, he claimed that he had told the SGPC a number of times that he was ready to quit the post. He said the SGPC could appoint new Jathedar any time.

Breaking prolonged silence, he claimed he did not love the seat of Jathedar and wanted to work as ‘Sevadar’ of Gurughar. “Actually, I was not ready to become Jathedar, but the SGPC has asked me again and again to assume the charge”, he said.

He revealed that the SGPC had assured him that after foundation day of Khalsa Panth (Visakhi), it would appoint permanent Jathedar.

Commenting on his alleged role in pardoning controversial head of the Sirsa based anti-Sikh cult, he said he had never met the cult head.  He said all the allegations being leveled against him are baseless and challenged anybody to prove them.

He also slammed Panj Pyaras of Akal Takht Sahib for issuing edict to sack the heads of three Takhts of Sikhs alleging that their eyes are on dollars of Sikhs living abroad.

  1. He ‘offered’ to resign from his post rather than actually resign his post – how brave of his convictions. No wonder Makkar and the Badals want him to stay in place – he is exactly their kind of ‘talk the talk but not walk the walk’ candidate.

  2. Giani Gurmukh singh ji shame on you for the thinking about slamming PANJ PYARES…

Decision of panj payares is the voice of whole sikh sangat.

You are resigning of jathedar post …. great decision by you but you don’t even deserve to be a sikh …
