Historic Conclave of Sikligar & Vanjara Sikhs in Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib

Gurdwara Sahib Raqab GanjNEW DELHI—Sewak Welfare Society & DSGMC (Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee) jointly organised a historic conclave of Sikligar & Vanjara Sikhs in Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib on January 8, 2016.  The gathering witnessed a mass gathering of about 720 community members belonging to 11 different villages of Uttar Pradesh.

All the demands put forward by Sewak Welfare Society for the welfare of Sikligar & Vanjara Sikhs were ratified by DSGMC. Gurmat Parchaar, Education, Employment & Mass Marriages were some of the major issues that were discussed and thereby, ways suggested to ensure improved working on these fronts. DSGMC promised to provide Gurmat Literature in Hindi language and station Parcharkas on permanent basis for Gurmat Parchaar in Uttar Pradesh villages.

The major theme was to promote Unity among Sikligar & Vanjara Sikhs living across different villages in Uttar Pradesh and other states. Hundreds of non-Sikh Vanjaras vowed to partake Amrit in next few months. Sewak Welfare Society & DSGMC jointly approved the concept of mass gathering of Sikligar & Vanjara Sikhs on an annual basis in Delhi.

Sewak Welfare Society vowed to work on pending but critical issues such as issuance of caste certificates and minority certificates to Sikligar & Vanjara Sikhs in Uttar Pradesh by liaisoning with Govt. authorities. Sewak Welfare Society urged DSGMC to initiate efforts on war footing to help Sikligars attain SC Status in Uttar Pradesh by coordinating with State Govt at the highest level.

Support Sikligar & Vanjara Sikhs : Sponsor a Child’s Education

AN APPEAL FOR SPONSORSHIP OF EDUCATION OF NEEDY SIKH KIDS IN UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA

Sewak Welfare Society has been making all possible efforts since last 4 years to take care of School Education and Gurmat Education of Sikligar Sikh kids residing in 10 bastis (villages) of western part of Uttar Pradesh like Dadri, Chirori, Barout, Binauli Adda, Kutana and Bamnauli. Over 132 children are presently being sponsored through individuals’ dasvandh with a soft spot for these economically poor and forgotten brethren.

But unfortunately, many children are still awaiting sponsorship for their education costs as initially we had admitted a large number of children in private schools, hoping for a bright future for all of them. The total cost incurred on each child’s education is Rs.4500/- per annum. These expenses include those on school fees, bags, uniform including shoes, books, copies, etc.

We are taking care of about 10 villages, but there is still a long way to go as the total number of Sikligar & Vanjara Sikh villages in Western Uttar Pradesh are 78+.
