Sikh-Genocide-1984-at-Hondh-Chillar-Village-in-Haryana-2CHANDIGARH, Punjab—BJP led Haryana Government has extended the validity of Garg Commission appointed to probe the massacre of 47 Sikhs & burning of 292 houses in Gurgaon and the  massacre of 17 Sikhs & burning of 47 houses of Sikhs by Hindu mobs in November 1984. The commission has been extended until March 31, 2016.

It is notable that the commission was appointed as per the instruction of the Punjab & Haryana High Court. The Haryana Government has apprised the Garg Commission about its extended validity and has asked the Commission to submit its final report till March 31, 2016.

Confirming the development, Hond Chillad Talmel Committee leader Eng. Manvinder Singh Giaspura said that with the extension, chances of deliverance of justice to victims of Sikh genocide have increased.

Interestingly, victims of the massacre will be protesting around the house of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Chandigarh to protest against the failure of the Haryana government in arresting the police officers believed guilty by the Garg Commission.
