I sing the attributes of the ocean of happiness, the most exalted Guru Nanak, who is the eradicator of all sins and the fountain of wisdom.

Message: Bhatt Kalya gives some hints here as to why these bards sang high praises of the Guru. He must have heard from the successive Gurus and Sikhs around that time, that the embodiment of divine light and the most exalted of men on this earth, Guru Nanak, was an ever-flowing fountain of divine knowledge and the ocean of happiness and peace.

So much so that those who came to hear him were enlightened by his wisdom and experienced spiritual bliss. The Guru’s company and advice helped people to overcome their negativity and wrongdoings and to also reform their lives. In fact, the Guru’s divine company even turned murderers and power-hungry kings into gentle human beings dedicated to guiding and bringing happiness to people.

This made Bhatt Kalya visualize that all contemporary and past men of devotion and wisdom sing praises of the Guru for his unmatched and profound understanding, virtues, love and humility.
