AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Where acting Jathedar Bhai Dhian Singh Mand is already facing sedition charges, the SGPC has also filed a lawsuit against him for “hurting religious sentiments of the Sikhs”. SGPC petition alleges that by addressing the Sikh Sangat, the acting Jathedar has hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikhs.
The petition has been filed on behalf of S. Partpal Singh, a manager of the SGPC.
It is notable that Jathedar Dhian Singh Mand’s address on Diwali led the Sikh Sangat to protest against Giani Gurbachan Singh. SGPC petition alleges that due to protests by supporters of Bhai Mand, the Sikh congregation present inside Sri Harmandir Sahib were disturbed.
Bhai Mand’s Family Members Face Harassment; Niece Arrested
Where family members of Bhai Dhian Singh Mand’s have continued to face harassment, his niece Bibi Mandeep Kaur has been arrested as well. Bibi Mandeep Kaur is an SGPC employee. SGPC has booked a case against her to helping Bhai Mand reach the Darbar Sahib complex the morning of Bandi Chorr Divus.
SGPC Takes Notice of Lack of Action by Task Force Employees
Sikh24 has learned that the SGPC has given strict warning to its task force and asked its employees to ensure that rebel Jathedars and their supporters must not be spared if they come to Sri Darbar Sahib. SGPC is apparently upset that the task force did nothing to stop acting Jathedar from delivering his speech. SGPC has also blamed the Amritsar police for conspiring with Bhai Mand and other leaders the day he arrived at Sri Darbar Sahib.
