BREAKING: Sikh Brothers ‘Falsely Accused’ of Guru Granth Sahib Desecration Released

Rupinder Singh Jaswinder SinghFARIDKOT, Punjab—Two brothers accused of the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib have today been released.

The arrests of brothers Rupinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh caused and outcry in Punjab as the Police announced their involvement in the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib Ji cases. Congregations and communities who knew the brothers immediately highlighted the falsehood of the police accusations and many protesting regions later begun included this alleged blatant mis-justice into their list of grievances.

Earlier today, a large gathering of Sikh Sangat was seen outside the Faridkot jail to welcome the Sikh brothers.  Rupinder Singh was seen wearing a waist support as his backbone was fractured during the Kotkapura protest due to excessive force being used by the police.

The Punjab Police have a strong reputation for false arrests, ‘encounters’ (extra judicial killings), accusations and corruption. They has been a widespread outcry of alarm when they seemed to attempt to pin the recent desecration cases on two devout Sikhs.

Many politicians and preachers have been accusing the police of shielding anti-Sikh elements and trying to blame Sikhs themselves for the recent unrest.

Background

As the Punjab Police failed to arrest real culprits responsible for the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, they picked up two brothers who were at the forefront of the protests against lack of police actions.  Rupinder Singh, a well known Sikh activist in his area, was targeted by the police and framed into the case.
