AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Expressing deep concern over the declining population growth of the Sikhs, Akal Takht Sahib appointed Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh has reiterated his advise to Sikh couples to have three children minimum.
In a statement issued here, he stated that he had given similar advice to Sikh couples when the issue was in news before. “At that time, I suggested Sikh couples to have four children at Sri Anandpur Sahib, but nobody took it seriously”, he said.
“Particularly, the sections of Sikhs who reside in other states and feel alienated, should also be taken into consideration so that they don’t think about converting their religion”, he added, citing examples of Sikligar and Vanjare Sikhs from Maharashtra. Jathedar was referring to the fact that these communities need to be counted as Sikhs for the sake of census data.
Meanwhile, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) said that trend of going abroad among Sikh youth is also a factor behind declining growth of Sikh population.
“Once, any Sikh youth goes abroad for study purpose, he gets settled there forever”, he added.
Very serious matter immidiate need remedy ,suggesstion ,convence whole cumunity to take imidiate steps further it will too late ,very dangerious situation is coming towards Sikh Cuminity

I will point reasons for declining number of Sikhs-
1. Massive propaganda by govt especially among Sikhs.
2. Naivety of Sikhs and utter stupidity of Sikh leaders. Our leaders neither study scripture or history nor seeks to learn. They simply sing to the tune of Govt.
3. Economic progress of the Sikhs.
4. Massive girl education more so than boys. if a female studies till 30 years how can she have any baby. Paradoxically men are less educated.
5. No propagation of the faith. No dedicated organization for promoting faith and making aware people.
6. No educational institutions of its own. There should be schools and colleges attached to all Gurudwaras. Syllabus should be readied and autonomy maintained.
7. Escapist thinking of today’s Sikh youth. They just want to go to western nation.
8. High sterilization campaign presently in operation in Punjab. There is incentive of Rs.2000 to undergo Vasectomy or Tubectomy ( and I being a Doctor have seen druggist undergoing vasectomy even if they are unmarried just for sake of rs.2000)
9. Lukewarm approach in spreading the message by our leaders. I mean they should aware Sikhs in a systematic, persistent and continuous way. If needed they should hire media managers as is done in elections.
10. Today’s Sikh youth interest in Enjoyment and luxury rather than joining Military or becoming IAS.
11. Our institutions have not consolidated their power out of Punjab and in many quasi Sikh communities which can convert to Full Khalsa any moment if our leaders pay attention to it.
12. At last I recommend designing our own Sikh services on permanent basis for administration and propaganda.
