United Akali Dal: Punjab Government Is Oppressing Human Rights of Its People

JALLANDHAR, Punjab—In a core meeting of the party, the United Akali Dal workers have decided to launch a “people’s rights” movement across Punjab. President of the United Akali Dal, Bhai Mohkam Singh, said that the Akali Dal government has implemented an ‘Unannounced Emergency’ in Punjab.  He alleged that the Punjab government is oppressing peaceful struggles violating human rights of its people.  “Punjab is under dominance of a single family due to which it is facing an economic disaster as well,” he added.

General Secretary of United Akali Dal, Bhai Gurdeep Singh Bathinda, informed that his party is plaintiff of solving problems peacefully and within the boundaries of the constitution. He said that UAD is making efforts to unite other parties on a common platform to wash out Akali-BJP-Congress leadership from Punjab.

S. Bathinda maintained that the murder of Bhai Satwinder Singh Bhola (son-in-law of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa) was unfortunate his role in the peaceful struggle of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa.  He informed that Antim Ardas for Bhai Satwinder Singh Bhola will be held on August 30 in Dana Mandi of Mullanpur Dakha.  “Future course of action for the struggle of Sikh political prisoners will be chalked out in a meeting at Amritsar on September 6,” he added.

Bhai Wassan Singh Zaffarwal, Bhai Satnam Singh Manawan, Bhai Bahadur Singh Rahon, Dr. Gurnam Singh Sidhu, Bhai Paramjit Singh Majitha, Dr. Bhagwan Singh, Giani Davinder Singh and others were also present on this occasion.
