Gurdeep Singh Bathinda’s Son Released on Bail

FARIDKOT, Punjab—Yadwinder Singh Brar (son of Gurdeep Singh Bathinda) has been released on bail by the Punjab government.

It is notable that Bhai Yadwinder Singh Brar was arrested from his office near a bus stand of Bathinda on July 24. False charges under section 107/151 of Cr.P.C (Code of Criminal Procedure) were leveled against him by the Punjab police. His crime was that he is the son of Bhai Gurdeep Singh Bathinda, who is convening the Bandi Singhs Rihai Sangharsh Committee, constituted to spearhead the struggle initiated by Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa for the release of political Sikh prisoners.

He was given bail by Sub Division Magistrate of Bathinda on August 6, but the police of Dialpura constituency detained him by fabricating a new case under section 107/151 of Cr.P.C (Code of Criminal Procedure). But when the police went to drop him to Faridkot jail, the jail authorities refused to accept Yadwinder Singh Brar. He was later kept at an unknown place for a day by police. At last, the police released him on bail during the night of August 7.

Reliable sources have informed that the Panthik bodies have moved a writ against illegal arrests by the Punjab Police in the High Court. After getting apprised of the writ, Punjab police is releasing all the Sikh activists.
