Four Saroops of Guru Granth Sahib Burnt in Village Suchi

JALANDHAR, Punjab—Four holy scriptures of Guru Granth Sahib have been reportedly burnt in fire originated from short circuit in Gurdwara Sahib in village Suchi. Beside it, costly equipment of Gurdwara also caught fire and burnt causing massive financial lost.

When nearby residents of Gurdwara Sahib noticed the rising smoke, they immediately reached there to see the matter. After getting acquainted with the situation, they immediately called the fire brigade and also started efforts to control the fire themselves. The fire brigade troop had to struggle hardly to control the fire.

News of this incident wandered quickly among Sikh circles and the nearby Sikh activists started gathering at Gurdwara Sahib within short duration. Watching the sensitivity of the incident, the Commissioner of the Nagar Nigam, SGPC member Kulwant Singh Mannan, Senior Akali leader Gurcharan Singh Channi, Ranjit Singh Rana, Baljit Singh Neelamehal and others reached the site quickly. 

Some of the Akali leaders and the leadership of Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committee are demanding a thorough investigation of the incident. They also urged the Administration to charge the appointed Granthi and Sevadar for their lack of supervision in the Gurdwara Sahib.
