Day 136: Despite Critical Health, Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa Remains Firm In His Decision

LUDHIANA, Punjab—Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa has remained firm regarding his decision and has continued to protest against the illegal detention of political Sikh prisoners since January 16, 2015.

His hunger strike today concluded 136th day and his health has become quite critical.  He remained unresponsive for a few hours and was unable to drink water as well.  Sangat that was accompanying Bapu Ji became worried and started to read Gurbani loudly.  Finally after a few hours, he was able to respond.

Despite of his weakened health, he is mentally firm about his goals. Whenever Bapu Surat Singh Ji Khalsa talks in slow voice, he says that either the prisoners will be released or I will pass away.

Prominent Sikh personalities across Punjab are extending their support to Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa. Two out of three factions of Damdami Taksal had expressed their support to Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa by visiting him. Jathedar Bhai Raam Singh Sangrawa (Chief of Sangrawan faction of Damdami Taksal) has even said that Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa will repeat the history of Shaheed Darshan Singh Feruman.

Many Sikh personalities are suggesting Jathedars to come forward in support of Bapu Surat Singh Ji Khalsa, but the Jathedars have so far not taken any stance.
