Badal: No Drug Epidemic in Punjab; Ramdev Doesn’t Know What He Is Talking About

CHANDIGARH, Punjab—Parkash Badal, the Chief Minister of Punjab has refuted recent remarks by yoga teacher Ramdev in which he has claimed that 80 percent of Punjabi youth are addicted to drugs.  Badal stated that the remarks by Ramdev are not true and there is no drug epidemic in Punjab.

Recently, during a press conference, Badal was asked about his views on Ramdev’s remarks that “80 percent of Punjab’s youth are on drugs”.

In his usual arrogant tone, Parkash Badal laughed at the question and stated that the question was not even valid.  He further refuted Ramdev’s remarks and alleged that the yoga teacher did not know what he was talking about.

“Did Ramdev carry out a study in Punjab?”, asked Badal.

Recent studies have claimed similar trends in Punjab.  The info-graphic below shows that over 70% youth in rural areas are addicted to drugs.
