LUDHIANA, Punjab—The Ludhiana Police today refused to take Ravinder Jeet Singh Gogi to the hospital for a medical check up.  He was in severe pain due to the beating by Assistant Sub-Inspector Richard Masih yesterday.

Ravinder Jeet’s neck and entire back was bruised when his lawyer met him briefly outside the court house.  The police did not allow any journalists to take pictures.  Gurjinder Singh Sahni, the lawyer, had earlier told Sikh24 that Ravinder Jeet Singh was beaten brutally using his own handcuffs made of metal.

Ravinder Jeet Singh is a US Citizen, detained in Punjab under charges fabricated by the police.  He was merely accompanying his father during a hunger strike when they were both arrested.  Ravinder Jeet Singh’s father, Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, has been peacefully protesting to seek rights of Sikh political prisoners who are languishing in jails despite having completed their sentences.

Next court hearing is scheduled to take place on April 17.
