AMRITSAR SAHIB, Punjab—Condemning the racial attack on a Sikh in Barmingham (UK), Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Avtar Makkar has written a letter to Indian prime minister Narendra Modi urging him to take necessary measures to stop racial attacks of Sikhs in foreign countries and ensure safety of their lives and assets.

He also wrote a letter to UK envoy in India taking up this issue. In this letter, he appealed UK government to resolve the issue by finding solution of problems being faced by Sikhs there.

Makkar said that he had taken up the issue prominently in the memorandum handed over to Modi during latter’s visit to Sri Darbar Sahib.

“Sikhs contributed a lot in prosperity and development of the countries they migrated to, but it is irony that racial attacks on Sikhs still continue. On one side, respective governments remember sacrifices of Sikhs, on the other side Sikhs have to face deadly attacks which is quite condemnable”, he added.

  1. Ridiculous!! Sikhs have infinitely more protection outside India than in India.

Agreed with RS Sikhs do not need protection, we are very well respected community. Very few incidents do occur due to ignorance, otherwise all good.
