Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa’s Second Hunger Strike Comes to an End

AMBALA, Haryana—With no solution in sight for the release of Sikh political prisoners, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa has ended his 2nd hunger strike after 64 days.  Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa was confined at the Civil Hospital in Ambala under tight security since he was brought here for medical treatment.

In the past few days, Bhai Gurbaksh Singh was kept isolated from his supporters at Lakhnaur Sahib, including Bhai Gurpiar Singh and Gurpreet Singh Guri.  Even now as Bhai Gurbaksh Singh has been discharged from the hospital in Ambala, Bhai Guri and others remain under police scrutiny.  They were not allowed to enter Haryana earlier today before Bhai Khalsa finished his hunger strike.

Bhai Gurbaksh Singh was taken to his residence by his son Bhai Jujhar Singh and other family members.  The hunger strike was ended by members of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee members who had also visited Bhai Gurbaksh Singh during his last days at Gurdwara Lakhnaur Sahib.

Jatha Shaheedan (UK) passed a statement stating that “if it wasn’t for Bhai Gurbaksh’s hunger strikes no one would have known about Sikh prisoners and so much pressure would have never been built.”

Earlier today, ardas was performed at Takht Sri Hazoor Sahib for chardi kala of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa and for the release of Sikh political prisoners.

  1. I don’t know what to say as becoz when a terrorist hijack a plane of 200 lifes and produces terror of there death to release there one big hero terrorist govt reply very fast and release those guys who are again going to do the same but I think bahi gurbaksh singh followed the father of nation’s style which resulted useless. Bhai sahib dumb nu voice pahunchan lai blast di zarurat hai. Bhagat singh te jarnail di ajj kami mehsoos ho rahi hai jo kade puri nai kiti ja sakdi. Kehra azad bharat….firangia to chhura ke apnea nu kingdom de ditta. Sab kuj badal gaya par gulam te gulami othe he hai. Darasal sanu aadat pe gai hai. We just need to change ourselves….

  2. I did expect him to die unless the prisoners wernt freed??

The whole point of starving himself was to make a stand?? He was upset with the first result of his starvation. Then second time he said either free the them or its my final fateh…

Then hes taken to hospital and then makes a statement like that…

Which media has interviewed the DSGMC?????? AND SHOWN THE MASSES OF SIKHS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED??? he’s gone home as a nothings happened??? Why hasnt he come back and made a closing speech and just left everyone on the planet hanging… very mysterious…

  3. Thanks for his great sacrifice starving 64 days..for the brothers and sisters of Sikh Kaum. I respect decision which bhai sahib end his hunger strike. In last 30 years who else starve for 100 days in one year. Kaum lai Jo gee koi Kiven fee Kurbani OR seva karda hai ous dee. Sifat

  4. This matter of releasing these prisoners is not a religious issue. It is a humanity issue. These prisoners are old or blind, so they cannot be such a security threat. The best way for the jatha to gather more support and build more awareness and pressure for the government is by contacting NGOs, human right organisations, and word of mouth. If these Sikhs can attract the support of the common Hindu, Christian or Muslim who think this demand is fair, then there will a stronger voice.

    • How about you sacrifice 60 plus days. It’s easier said than done. What issues have you brought forth and made them a mainstream concern in the past 60 days let alone your life time. The attitude you prespire is the very attitude that is bringing down the motivation for change let alone for anybody to bring forth issues. We are sitting here comfortably behind our screens ridiculing a individual that not once but twice has put his health through hell. If our Panthic leaders are sell outs don’t bestow yourself to their level.
