Jalandhar Sangat Conduct a March in Support of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa

JALANDHAR, Punjab—Sikh sangat from Jalandar peacefully went out on a march on Monday to support Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa and his hunger strike for the release of Sikh prisoners who are still in jail after doing their time. The march was organized by Sadbhavana Dal and started from Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran, Nauvin Patshahi, Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar.

Sikh leaders Jagjit Singh Gaba, Jaspal Singh, and Gurdip Singh told reporters that Bhai Gurbaksh Singh has entered the 46th day of his hunger strike to release Sikh prisoners who have already done their time and the governments have not cared or bothered to accept his demands. The Sikh leaders also said that there was nothing wrong in Bhai Gurbaksh Singh demanding the release of Sikh prisoners as they have already done their time so they should be released. They also stated that they don’t have any objection to the release of other prisoners of any religion who have also completed their time.

“Sikh Prisoners who have completed their jail terms must be freed as they have been behind bars for decades. They have lost the prime of their youth within the four walls of jails and their families have suffered a lot outside to make both ends meet,” said the leaders.

The Sikh sangat that went on the march went through various roads making sure their voices and demands were heard, and they also presented a datum to ADC Pritam Singh. The sangat, which included men, women, and youth, carried banners and placards and prayed for the early release of the Sikh prisoners and for the well being of Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa.
