JALANDHAR, Punjab—After police remand of 22 days, Bhai Harminder Singh Mintu has now been sent to judicial remand by the Jalandhar court of duty magistrate Simran Singh.

It is notable that Punjab police had arrested Bhai Mintu on November 7 from Delhi Airport labeling him as “deadly terrorist”, and member of a pro-Khalistan organization. After arresting him, the Police bought him to Jalandhar, whereas Bhai Gurpreet Singh Gopi who was also arrested along with him, was sent to Gurdaspur jail.

During the police remand, Bhai Mintu was framed in two cases filed at Bhogpur Police station. Under these cases, he was charged for carrying an AK 47, a pistol and ammunition.  Police and Indian media had tried to portray the arrest of Bhai Mintu as a major breakthrough, claiming him as a Babbar Khalsa activist, although he was initially labelled as the chief of Khalistan Liberation Force.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur who was appeared on behalf of Bhai Harminder Singh Mintu, said that his client was well physically and mentally, although he faced a bit of pain due to heart surgery, but as per court’s directions, his medical treatment is on track.

Manjhpur told Sikh24 that as per police, 8 more cases are pending against Bhai Mintu, and in the coming days, police of other districts could bring him for production warrants.
